Light Theory
The Theory of Light was discovered by Sir Isaac Newton in 1672. Newton passed a beam of white light through a prism and created a spectrum of colour now known as the rainbow. this happens when light is shone at a certain angle because the colours travel at different speeds and refract at different angles causing them to separate.
- Light is a form of energy which our sense of sight can detect. It is made of electro-magnetic radiation and travels in a straight path.
- The speed of light is the speed at which light travels. It is about 300,000 kilometres per second. Nothing travels faster than light
- Light will travel in a completely straight line until it hits an object that will bend it. The light that is in a straight line are called ‘light waves’.
- Space does not have any light. We can see things in space due to light bouncing off of the objects in space.
